#SDCC walking versus standing

I must not Stand.
Standing is the mind-killer.
Standing is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will rock in place.
I will shift my weight from side to side and prevent myself from being still.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the standing has gone there will be nothing......Only I will remain

Standing is SOOOO simple.  You don’t lose your breath like running or walking fast.  You can relax and enjoy the people watching and slowly have the gravity of the Earth crush your spine.

Standing is sneaky painful.

When you walk, you are shifting your weight. Different joints are moving and inducing and reducing pressure. Your muscles are contracting and expanding.  Blood is pumping because the heart is beating a little faster and the muscles are helping the blood move.  The feet which are taking the most damage are shifting the weight throughout the stride.

You stand your heart rate will slow and your muscles are moving so the blood doesn’t flow as fast.  The feet swell a little.  As you stand you don’t shift your body weight and your feet are not getting any relief from your constant battle with Mother Earth.  She is a cruel mistress.  Your knees and hips aren’t flexing and you are stiffening.

Standing in line is one of the most draining things you’ll do.
It’s hard to do a lot in a crowded line but you can rock from heel to toe.  You can do a little or a lot.  You might be so good at it others won’t notice.
You also want sway from side to side. Not trees in the hurricane swaying but enough that you are shifting your weight and moving your joints and muscles.

This isn’t a cure. It’s only delaying the pain but any relief is good.
