Shohreh Aghdashloo Vegas 2021

You may not recognize the name but I bet you recognize the voice. Ever since I saw Shohreh Aghdashloo on 24, she has been on my radar. It’s great to see her on The Expanse. She does justice to her character on the show.

As I was passing through the vendors’ room, her table was empty so I wandered off to see who else on my long list I could get. Then I saw her walking toward me. No one recognized her. I nodded and she smiled. I swung around to follow her to her table.  There were a few people camping out waiting for her to arrive. I was probably 5 people back.

She greeted people as her handler set up the table.  She has a presence of sophistication as she walked and sat and turned to talk to people. As someone got a selfie with her, she told them to remove the mask. She explained that they didn’t really want a photo with a mask on.  So the fan unlooped it from one ear and let it dangle from the other.  She saw that and said they should take it all the way off for the photo.  I thought that was very sweet because everyone was nervous about being ‘mask off’.

While there was a nice selection of photos on the table, I liked mine better.  The handler found a good color sharpie to use. Shohreh commented on the photo. She like the lighting…and then as she signed, she commented on the color of the pen. It went well with the jacket.  Not a perfect match but doesn’t clash too much.

 At her panel, she talked about her education, her career, and the Expanse. She also talked about the fall of Iran. How one day it was some protests that were mostly peaceful and then the next the protesters were killing people. As she was walking near a protest, someone hit her in the head with a brick. She knew that her Iran would never be the same and it was no longer safe to be a woman there. Shortly after that she drove from Iran to Germany by herself and started her life and career over.

You can see some of that strength in the roles she has taken over the years.

The Expanse Steven Strait and Wes Chatham DragonCon 2019

Again, shows on the Sy Fy network don’t seem to do signings at SDCC. A lot of the actors aren’t on the convention tour either. When DragonCon announced that Steven Strait and Wes Chatham were attending, my ears perked up. This was going to be a rare occasion. I hope other members of this cast start appearing at conventions.

Steven and Wes’s signing tables were next to each other. They each had a few people in line. They chatted and signed and posed for photos.

While the photos I choose were not the best for signatures, I liked them as they had the ‘feel’ from the show.

I said the same thing to both of them: Really enjoyed the show. Glad Amazon picked it up. As I have said in the past, it’s a show that you need to pay attention. You can’t play Word with Friends when it’s showing.

Cas Anvar SDCC 2017

I could have gotten Cas Anvar’s signature years ago. He does the convention circuit.

I’m glad I waited until now as he is in The Expanse.  It’s a show I enjoy. It’s a show that you need to pay attention to and not play Word with Friends while it’s running.

Cas Anvar feels the same way. He likes the show and it’s one you need to give it some attention. He was excited to add: It’s Slingshot time!

I picked this up on my relaxing Sunday. I slept late and spent a lot of time in Hall H.
