Katy O’Brian DragonCon 2023
I’m not sure why Katy O’Brian was a’ must have’ on my list. Maybe
because I really enjoy Z Nation. That show went off in some odd directions. Maybe
because I liked Mandalorian. Her character was intriguing there. Regardless, I'm happy I got to add her to my collection.

Pisay Pao and Nat Zang Alamo City ComicCon 2016
Nat Zang was quiet. He smiled. We exchanged a few pleasantries.
I told him I hoped he didn’t get killed off (very few are safe on this show)
and he smiled again. I left.
As I walked up to Pisay Pao, she had just taken a sniff from
a small green tube that had the size and shape of an air-borne container. She shook her head with disgust as the scent
abused her nose. She saw me and her
handler and she started laughing.
I assumed it was something innocent while it did look
nefarious. She said it was something that
a fan gave her. So I played it up. Oh
yeah, sure, a ‘fan’ gave that suspicious looking item and you just had to
sniff. I’m sure the police will enjoy hearing
all about that. She returned a mock look
of shock that would bring the police into this and pleaded her case.
Meanwhile her handler was doubled over in laughter. Apparently,
they had discussed the possibility of being mistaken and someone like me walking
up at the wrong time.
Pisay assured me it was fake ‘zombie weed’ that was being
sold by another Z Nation actor a few tables down. She mentioned she doesn’t do any of ‘that’ and
she doesn’t even smoke even though she is from Seattle. Confused I asked if they
outlawed tobacco there. I misunderstood. Seattle was very pro-pot and everyone smoked
openly – except Pisay.
Pisay was all smiles and energy. She wore the gold outfit in
the photo. She also had a blood stained fur wrap on her shoulders that she also
wore in a few episodes. She was allowed to borrow it. I’m sure that made the
photo ops more fun for fans.
I did ask if she might have another flashback episode. She smiled but didn’t commit. I told her it was good to see her in the show
again and she thanked me.

Anastasia Baranova and Russell Hodgkinson Walker Stalker 2016
So, why won’t Z Nation be
represented at Walker Stalker?
Anastasia Baranova and RussellHodgkinson were signing at this show.
She was very friendly and chatty.
She had just flown in from a wedding in
Europe and still jet lagged. Nonetheless, she was up to the task of meeting her
fans.
Anastasia is much thinner in person.
(Ouch, a slap to the back of the head and being told that I shouldn’t say
things like that. I’m thinking, at least
she isn’t bigger in person…Ouch, another slap to the head AND a glare. The glare
that says: I know what you are thinking. Okay, I’m guilty of thinking.)

Russell was very outgoing. He was
also selling Z-Weed and some T-shirts which fits his character. Again, he was very
happy to see his fans.

Keith Allan SDCC 2015
Z Nation is a guilty pleasure for me. I guess that they don’t
have any issues with being campy and silly.
One of the main characters was signing in the sails pavilion. I walked
up to Keith Allan just as a fan was walking away.
He’s taller than I expected. He’s as tall as me or slightly
taller. He seemed quiet and as I mentioned enjoying Z Nation he seemed to open
up. I’m sure the whole SDCC vibe was strange and he was trying to absorb it.

Harold Perrineau
I was pretty nervous about Walker Stalker Con. They had a huge line up and I truly wondered
if my money or my time would run out before I got everyone I wanted. I arrived
a little after 8AM. The doors were scheduled to open at 10:30 AM.
Oddly enough, the first priority I had was the cast members
from Lost. Most of them do not do conventions
so my collection is fairly empty of that cast. When the doors opened I searched
for the actors from lost.

When I found their tables, the only one present was Harold Perrineau. I got in line and after a short wait I was chatting with him. He seemed
as pumped as me. We only chatted for a few moments. We talked Lost and
conventions. He said he has been enjoying doing the shows and was thinking
about doing more of them.
Then I mentioned Z Nation. There is no doubt it’s a cheesy
show. Think Sharknado meets zombies. It would have NOT been on my radar except for
Harold and Tom Everett Scott. Harold was killed in the first episode and Tom
was killed 6 shows later.
With a wry grin he said he did it as a stunt; just something
to do. He also admitted he got a lot more attention from that appearance than he
expected.
