Tim Russ Geekinomicon Sept 2016

Tim Russ was also in OKC and I finally got him. I have not seen him listed at too many conventions, so for me, this was a good opportunity to add him.

It was the last autograph I picked up before I headed back to Dallas. (Ahem!  The wife standing behind me cleared her throat.  I turned and looked at her beautiful face. Her toe tapped slowly, implying I omitted something.  I raised an eyebrow in question. Two syllables fell from her lips: Poker.)
Let me restate that, Tim Russ was the last autograph I picked up in OKC before I headed to the casino and played poker for 10 hours. (Her job as arbiter of truth completed, I heard my wife leave the room.) Then I headed home to my dear and loving wife.

Adrianne Palicki Geekinomicon Sept 2016

I won’t say I gushed over Adrianne Palicki. I won’t say I flirted with Adrianne Palicki. I will say I was excited to see her.  I know her from Supernatural and John Wick and of course Agents of Shield.

This was not the first time I got her autograph.  Previously, it was in San Diego for the Legion cast signing.

Again, another very friendly and chatty actor. Outside of a few comments about Supernatural, and how emotional her last scene was in Agents of Shield, I don’t remember much of the details.  Most likely, I don’t remember much because she looked me in the eyes and smiled a lot.

Vernon Wells Geekinomicon Sept 2016

Now and then I mentioned actors I want but I passed up due to lack of time, or money, or whatnot. Vernon Wells is one that was on that list and I finally added him to my collection.

I remember when Mad Max came out.  I was in high school. A friend and I went to the theater to see it. Yes, I’m that old. I was less than impressed. The concept was intriguing but the movie was bad. Granted I’m not a movie critic so my opinion is worthless.

Then the sequel came out, I did go to see it. I was very impressed.   And that is how Vernon Wells end upon my radar and why I finally got his autograph.

Adrian Pasdar Geekinomicon Sept 2016

I liked Adrian Pasdar in Heroes and now I like him in Agents of Shield.  While he looks rough and seems to carry a ‘don’t bother me’ look, he was very friendly and open and chatty.  He talked about the good and bad about Heroes (he led the conversation about the bad.) We chatted about Agents of Shield. I was a nice encounter.

Yee Jee Tso and Daphne Ashbrook Geekinomicon Sept 2016

One of the reasons I went to OKC for Geekinomicon was this show had two companions from the Dr Who movie made in 1996. While I did not like the movie and constantly amazed it is considered canon, it is Dr Who and actors from the show are ‘rare’ in the US. I did the quotes around ‘rare’ because more and more of them as finding their way to the States.

Yee Jee Tso and Daphne Ashbrook were both friendly.  It was good to see them and to add them t my collection.

Garry Chalk Geekinomicon Sept 2016

I drove up to OKC. That is Oklahoma City for the people that live on the coasts. I have never been before and it’s a small city with a small town feel to it. OKC was hosting Geekinomicon. I think this was the first time for this convention.

Once I got there, I walked around to get the lay of the land.
I got Gary Chalk’s autograph. Since the crowds were small, we had some time and chatted. We talked about a few topics. One was living within your means.  Sometimes that’s hard for an actor as the paychecks start coming in and they never expect them to stop.  Then they don’t save any money. That is a true statement for everyone but actors and athlete have some dramatic (pun intended) swings to their income streams.  Yes, it was an odd topic for two strangers to discuss. The conversation went there because Gary does some work with actors about money management. Again, this is something we all to learn more about.
