Greg Grunberg was on my want list because of Heroes. Star Trek and Star Wars are just dessert. And whatever I say, I’ll know I’ll be forgetting something.
He told me he liked the photo I printed. That might be because he had seen the same photo of his Star Trek character with the last 50 people. If I remember correctly, Creation only had one 8x10 for sale. After a fan mentioned that and they didn’t have anything related to Star Wars, he turned to his handler and asked about that. She paused, mentally trying to practice how she wanted to reply. Even after thinking about it, it still came out as: Well duh! We’re at a Star Trek Convention. Yes, I laughed out loud. Greg just nodded sagely as he digested that.
I watched his panel. He is witty. He is quick. He seems like
a guy you can hang out with and have fun and relax and not put on airs. He really
seems to be geeky and nerdy and just like us – with the exception of actually working
on the things that fans obsess about.
Am I the last to learn he is close friends with JJ Abrams? He
openly admits that is how he crossed over into BOTH Star Trek and Star Wars.
That applies to just about everything else that Abrams has worked on. I want to
be friends. Maybe I can be in Star Trek too.
