Supernatural Creation Convention New Orleans Nov 2021

I don’t have a ‘love/hate’ relationship with Creation Conventions but I do have a ‘irritated/frustrated’ relationship with them. I haven’t made it a secret I don’t really like them but they do have the talent I want autographs from.  In 2021, I attended a couple of their shows.  The first was the Star Trek Con in Vegas. The second was for Supernatural in New Orleans.

Why did I go to New Orleans when the they were coming to Plano, TX a few months, later? Great question. Their Silver admission ticket was cheaper in New Orleans than Plano.  Yes, I spent more money to travel but less of my money was going to Creation.  Petty of me.

The Wife and I stayed at a hotel across from the convention center. We stayed on the end that was furthest from the convention but it was close to the casino and an easy walk to most of the touristy things we did while in New Orleans.

And since this was a smaller convention and I was only there for autographs, we had our evenings free to go out to eat and do a haunted New Orleans tour.

The convention itself was small. I’m guessing about 1500 attendees. It was about 99% female. The few guys were mostly husbands and boyfriends. I saw a couple of other collectors. We didn’t socialize.

The vendor room was about 10 vendors.  I’m glad I printed photos before the conventions. While there was a nice selection of photos for sell at the show,  I liked what I bought better.

For Vegas, I had to provide proof I was vaccinated. In New Orleans I had to provide proof I had a negative test in the last 36 hours. Like Vegas, I needed to wear my mask at all times.

In Vegas, I bought a general admission ticket. In New Orleans I HAD to buy a Silver (I could have bought a Gold) to get an autograph from the two lead actors. Now, those autographs were included in the price of the ticket but it’s a pricey ticket. Another ‘perk’ is assigned seating throughout the show. I never sat in my seat. I just sat in the wings with the general admission crowd.  I was about 20 rows back. Being ‘front and center’ didn’t seem worth it to me.

I sat through panels and played Pokémon or chess and waited until it as time to get an autograph.  I was asked a couple of times by the staff if I was having a good time or had any feedback to give. That was very friendly.

While I don’t like Creation, I must admit I had a good time at both conventions. I obtained a wealth of Star Trek autographs in Vegas.  And I was very happy with the guest list for the Supernatural convention. They fill a niche that other conventions don’t fill. It’s for the uber fan of a particular show (Supernatural, Xena, Star Trek, etc) who is not a fan of conventions in general.
