Josh Holloway looked up with that charming smile that melts The
Wife’s heart. Unfortunately, The Wife wasn’t with me. We shook and I handed
over the photo and asked for a quote. I had it printed. He looked it over. He
said, I don’t think I said that. I have a confused look. He said he’s pretty
sure the quote was: Oh look! There’s my favorite leaf…
I told him, I’ll gladly defer to you. Then he signed slowly
as not to smudge the paint. He is a lefty. I’m a lefty. We sympathized over the
struggles of smears and palms covered in ink or pencil lead.
Then if you know me, you know I got to bring ComicCon into
this. I told him I to go to a lot of ComicCons in San Diego because of him. He
looked up with a hint of curiosity. I told
him at my first ComicCon out there I attended a Lost panel with him and Maggie
Grace. I enjoyed the panel and I enjoyed SDCC and I got a signed book from Ray
Bradbury. Mission complete and no way to top that. I figured I ‘did’ ComicCon
and that would be the last time. When I got home, I was telling The Wife all
about the convention and mentioned The Lost panel. I told her that Josh was
there. She stopped me. She asked, ‘Sawyer’ was there…? Then she repeated that with
excitement. She said, you saw Sawyer? I want to go next year and see Sawyer.
We went the next year and no Sawyer at the lost panel. She
got to see Jorge Garcia. She was not thrilled. She thought I lied to her. So,
we went several more times hoping she would see Sawyer. She never did. And she
wasn’t with me at the signing for the TV show, Intelligence. I got Josh and
Marge Helgenberger autographs. Again, she was disappointed.
I told him, oddly I could not get her to come today to stand
in line with me. He nodded and told me to say ‘hi’.
When I got home, The Wife asked if he really said ‘hi’. I nodded
and she had a big smile on her face.
