Three from the Dallas Comic Show August 2021

The weekend after I got back from the Vegas Star Trek convention, I attended a local show in the Old Lewisville Mall called Dallas Comic Show.

For a local show, they had a nice list of actors and artists.  I picked up three autographs.

The first was Ty Olsson. While I already have him, the previous photo was from The 100.  I wanted something from Supernatural. When he signed, we chatted about DragonCon. Not a week later he appeared on the DragonCon guest list.  I will claim responsibility for that. He must have realized how much he enjoyed Atlanta and decided to go back.

The next was Jonathan Lipnicki who my wife instantly remembered was in Jerry Maguire. As an adult now, he doesn’t look like the child in the movie. I found him friendly and full of positive energy.

The last was Lexi Rabe, who is Tony Stark’s daughter in Avenger’s End Game.  She was coloring as I stopped at her table. Her mom asked her to clean up so she could sign a photo.  Lexi took a bite of her apple before picking up a red sharpie and getting to the serous business of signing an autograph.  I’m assuming the blonde next to her was mom.  She leaned over and whispered a copy of things to Lexi and she nodded. She spent considerable time filling in the heart and ensuring she did no outside the lines. Like I said, she did turn serious when she did this.

While the inscription might look like I love 43k…it’s I love U 3 k. She added that without asking. I was happy to meet her.

Supernatural DJ Qualls and Ty Olsson DragonCon 2019

Not only did I get DJ Qualls and Ty Olsson’s autographs, I went to their panel as well.  The panel was funny and went off in odd directions. It was entertaining and well worth the time.

The two are friends and have traveled together overseas. They suggested a potential Supernatural spin off with the two of them (Werewolf and Vampire) living together as roommates.  A Supernatural spin on the Odd Couple.

During the panel, they both left the stage to show photos on their phones. The pictures were photo shopped images that fans had done of them. The photos were PG13.  They didn’t want to show the images to anyone not willing to see it or too young.  It was funny but really neat they came down off the stage and walked through the aisles and seats.

DJ dominated the conversation with the fans. He is a talker. Ty didn’t seem to mind. It’s not that Ty is quiet or shy. DJ did a comprehensive job of answering for both of them.

When I got their autographs, DJ talked to everyone in line; sharing stores and anecdotes. He mentioned that the sock puppet was given to him and he was proud it’s one of the few props that was allowed to be taken from the set.

DJ walking through the crowd showing the photo on his phone.
Ty was also very friendly and chatted with people one on one. He ran out of the Benny photos from Supernatural before I got to him. I ended up with a 100 photo; which is a show I also like but I think of him as a Supernatural actor.

These are nice additions to my collection.
