For some reason, and I’m sure it is known to the DragonCon historians, DragonCon Veterans, and Wikipedia, people dress using a pattern that is ‘odd’. It’s the cult of the carpet. The carpet of this cult was in the Marriott a long time ago and has been replaced. Gone but not forgotten.
The evidence of this cult is seen in Facebook posts, cookies and cakes made by the hotel, lanyards, and fans incorporating it into their cosplay. We even saw an inflatable T-Rex with the carpet design.
While I took some photos of cosplayers, I soon stopped. It is a very popular thing to do. I could have taken 100’s of photos and still missed people wearing the carpet. It is part of the fabric (yes, I went there) of the con.
Some examples were very subtle and some were over the top. It might have been an accessory like a tie or a collar or incorporated into the whole outfit.
