I stopped at Michelle Harrison’s table first. She was friendly. She asked my name and we chatted.
Then I stepped over to the next table with John Wesley Shipp.
He was chatting with a young couple. John
was very outgoing. He asked the couple if they wanted a selfie, the girl shook
her head no. The guy said she really
wanted one but was too shy. John stood
and walked over and quietly said a few words. Then she agreed. The three of them posed and Michelle Harrison
took the photo.
The girl was blushing but her smile was beaming to the heavens. John gave a quick hug then mentioned she needed a sweater because her arms were so cold. Her blush turned very red. John paused and then Michelle stepped in. She said sometimes John doesn’t know when not to be a ‘dad’.
Then the comedy started. Lots of playful quips and bon mots
between John and Michelle. Everyone was laughing. Then Michelle noticed me waiting. She told John
that I was waiting for him to stop goofing off. However, she used my name. She remembered
my name.
Then I interrupted. I told her how impressed I was she remembered.
I told how I can’t remember The Wife’s name and I have to say ‘Honey’ when I address
her. (Yes, the room is empty and The Wife did see me write that.) There was
more chatting between the three of us.
As John signed the photo I picked, I noticed a photo of the
two of them together. I liked it. I commented
on it. John laughed and looked at Michelle.
She rolled her eyes and said she HATED it. She wished it was never taken. But she laughed. I think he said he brings those
photos just to irritate her.
She explained why she didn’t like it. And he explained why
he liked it. But the thing I got out of this was how much the enjoyed each
other’s company.
