I have not seen the movie Prey. I have heard a lot of good things. Frightmare had three actors from the movie. I have to admit I think I missed out by not seeing this in the theaters.
On Friday, I chatted with Dakota Beavers. Very friendly and
we chatted about a few things. He only had done one other convention and enjoyed
it. He was impressed how friendly and open people were and was looking forward to
this show.
At this time, I was the only person in line. He commented on
the photo I printed. I liked his suggestion of white for the signature. While it
doesn’t match perfectly with his face paint, it does look good on the photo.
Our conversation rambled like a good chat should. It casually
roamed over a few topics. It was fun. Then someone walked up to the table and it
was time to move on.
Next was Dane DiLiegro. He was also very friendly and we got to chat too. I mentioned that it wasn’t often I saw someone taller than me when they are seated. He stood and showed me how tall he really was (he had 6 inches on me).
That broke the ice and he asked where I was from. I told him
it was a town 25 miles north of the convention. He mentioned he visited a friend
there the day before. The buddy from college plays basketball and moved
to my town. Small world. We ended up talking
about the town and things to do and of course BBQ. He wanted to go to the ONE
place in town that was famous for BBQ. The line was too long and he ended
up at a chain BBQ restaurant. The handler at the table and I both shook our heads in
disappointment. We both agreed the other place was worth the wait. Hopefully he
had time before he flew out to get the GOOD BBQ.
When Dane signed, he picked up a red sharpie and added 3 red
dots to the signature. It might not show in the scan but I thought it was a
nice touch.
I had to wait until Sunday to get Amber Midthunder. She wasn’t at Frightmare on Friday and I was in Houston for Saturday (a different convention). She had a long line but it was moving fast. She told me she liked the photo and she really looked scared. I loved that she used a green sharpie.
I must admit I bogged her down some. After she signed, I mentioned
I really enjoyed Legion. She smiled and thanked me. Then I quickly showed her a
photo I took at SDCC. It was a cast signing at the FOX booth. She looked and
said: Oh my God, that’s me! We both
laughed. I said the guy at the end asked
if I watched the current season. I had to admit I started the first episode a
couple of times and stopped when I realized I was lost. I had too many distractions
and there was important dialogue I was missing. I really needed to focus so I waited.
I told her I finally got the time and finished the series. It was worth the wait.
