David Acord – Madness Games and Comics May 2022

Baby Yoda has swept the world. So I felt obliged to get an autograph of the ‘voice’ of Grogu.   Now I’ll admit, I’m not sure if David Acord is the voice or the person that electronically creates the voice but I went to Madness Games and Comic and handed over my money and got my signature.

It was quick and painless. David smiled and confirmed the color and where I wanted the signature. He handed me back my photo and I went on my merry way.

Bill Hargreaves Madness Games and Comic 2019

Again, Madness brought in a Star Wars related person for autographs.  A buddy and I visited Madness late one night and met Bill Hargreaves.  He was the designer/builder for many of the droids used in Star Wars over the years.

We got there before him.  We watched him set up.  As we stood in line, his sister was still setting up the table and displaying more photos to choose from as we moved closer to the front.  There were quite a few I liked. Finally, this one spoke to me. 

He paused to tell that he had ‘a bit of a row’ with the guy in the studio. Since he couldn’t work inside, he dragged the droid outside to finish it.  He said the only reason this picture happened was he was forced outside.

Paul Freeman Madness Games and Comics Feb 2019

The day I came back from LA, I landed and dropped off the bags at home. Then I drove into Plano to visit Madness Games and Comics. Why? Because Paul Freeman was there doing a signing.

If you thought The Wife wanted to put me into rehab after getting Josh Gates’ autograph, she now thought it was too late for detox to do any good.

Paul was friendly. People had a lot of different ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ items for him to sign. I think the golden skull from the opening scene of the movie was the best. I was boring and just did a photo. Once we were done, I had to rush home and spend some quality time with The Wife.

Michael Carter Madness Comics Jan 2019

This was the first autograph I got this year. Yeah!

I got to Madness Comics and Games just as they were starting. I saw the 501^st give Michael Carter an honorary membership.  I’m sure he gets that at every location that has a garrison. Lot so people were getting ‘pops’ signed.  I just got my normal 8x10.

It as a quick smooth transaction and then I was on my way home.

Garrick Hagon Madness Comics June 2018

Madness Games and Comics has become a nice source for Star Wars actors.  This time Garrick Hagon was signing for fans. He was friendly and signing all types of memorabilia. I was happy I got my photo signed and he added, ‘Red 3 standing by’. I love it!

Cliff Alliston Madness Comics

So the next guest at Madness Comics was Cliff Allison. Yes, he had a bit role in Return of the Jedi and yep, you can’t find him in IMDB. Maybe he doesn’t exist.

Nice guy. Told me he drives trucks and actually delivers to the Home Depot down the road.

Angus MacInnes – Gold Leader

Not even a week after free comic book day, Madness Game and Comics had me back in their store. They had Gold Leader himself, Angus MacInnes. If 'Gold Leader' doesn't mean anything to you, then you aren't a Star Wars fan.

Yes, I went and got his autograph.

Of course he signed with ‘gold’ ink. Was there any doubt?

Julie Dolan and Matthew Wood Madness Games and Comics - Free Comicbook day 2017

Madness Games and Comics had actors 10 people signing at their store on Free Comicbook Day. It was a mix of Power Rangers, Star Trek, and Star Wars.  I was interested in Julie Dolan and Matthew Wood from the Star Wars universe.

I got to the event a few hours after it started and people were still in line getting their free comics and in line to meet the celebs. I was not the oldest person in the room. However, I was skewing the average toward the end of the curve.

I picked up Matthew first. We talked about lunch (we were both hungry) and what the store was going to feed them.

Julie was friendly. Since she was a ‘princess’, there was a slight line for her. I was definitely the oldest person in her line. As she signed, she switched pens.  An odd thing to do. I’m assuming it was to make the character name stand out.

PS I don’t read comic. I never thought to go through the line to pick out free comics to read.  These comics are specifically printed for this day and are handed out free to the public.  As I was updating The Wife on my success, she asked if I got any of the comics.  Of course I said ‘no’.  Then she reminded me that our friends visiting us from out of town do read comics and they are busy at another event. The Wife made me go back in and pick out some comic books for my friends. She is a good person.
