Rebecca Riggs, Anthony Simcoe, Lani John Tupu Farscape DragonCon 2019

DragonCon does a great job of getting multiple actors from the same show to attend.  Much like Supernatural, Farscape was well represented. Since these actors were coming from ‘Down Under’, it was a wonderful treat to see Rebecca Riggs, Anthony Simcoe, Lani John Tupu in Atlanta.

I also attended the panel that Rebecca, Anthony, and Gigi Edgley held. Ben Browder and John could not be present for the panel.  It was interesting to hear them share stories and explain the impact of the show being cancelled after being promised a 5th season.

At the autograph tables, Rebecca, Anthony, and John were open and willing to answer any questions.  They enjoyed meeting the fans.  They seemed to understand how rare this was for Americans.  There was lots of laughing and memories shared.

They were curious if people were still watching it or if the show appeared dated. I told them all that I had re-watched the entire series a few years back and still enjoyed it.

Not only did I add to my Supernatural collection, I added to my Farscape collection which has been stagnate for years.

Ben Browder DragonCon 2019

Ben Browder has been on my want list for a very long time.  Between Farscape and Stargate, I have seen him on TV a lot and for a long time.

He was quiet.  The guy in front of me told him how much enjoyed the 1812 episode on Farscape.  He bowed his head and thanked him.

When it was my time, I told him that Farscape was the gateway show that got The Wife into liking Sci Fi.  The show was quirky but she liked his character and the eventual romance between his and Claudia Black’s character. Again, he bowed his head and said thanks.

It was tempting to get two photos, one from Farscape and one from Stargate. You know me, I rarely do more one photo.  The Stargate image won out as I liked it more.

And I totally forgot to ask how he got involved with Bad Kids go to Hell.

Claudia Black and Dragon Age #SDCC

There were quite a few people standing in line and pulling beads out of the bowl at the Dark Horse booth. Many of them were there for a chance to meet and get an autograph from Ben Gelinas and Nick Thornborrow.

Who are they?  That’s basically what I thought.  Not being a gamer, I’m not aware of the coolness of Dragon Age nor how awesome the storyline and characters that they created are. Not being a gamer, I wasn’t in line pulling beads, repeatedly, for them.

I was in line hoping for a blue bead out of the sea of white so I could meet Claudia Black.  Who is she?  Well, it’s all comes down to your type of nerdiness.  I am the type of geek that watched Farscape and Stargate. So Claudia Black is a big name for me.

My friends clued me in that the Dark Horse allows outside items signed.  Once I pulled a blue bead (only took 5 or 6 tries), I needed to track down a photo to get signed. The first place that came to mind was Holzheimer’s and they did have several photos to choose. I choose a photo that reminded me how quirky her character in Stargate was.

As I mentioned, a lot of the people were there to see the creators of Dragon Age.  It’s been a long time..., a long time...since I’ve heard that level of nerdiness. The two in front of me were dressed as characters from the game. While they had never met before, they formed a tight Dragon Age friendship.  They chatted incessantly about the plot and the skill level. Both concepts that are far beyond my ken.
