Revenge of the Nerds part III – Brian Tochi – Chiller Theater 2019

The last of the Revenge of the Nerd autographs I got was Brian Tochi. He and I hit it off. We chatted for 15 minutes or more. He was thrilled I went to the UofA when they filmed. He asked about several locations around town that he visited when they filmed. We talked about how the campus has changed and that the parking lot where the Greek Olympic games was filmed is no longer there.  He loved the city and had been back a few times.

Then we talked Star Trek. He was in the 1968 episode, And the Children Shall Lead. Not the greatest episode but it is memorable. He asked if I knew who Melvin Belli was. I did but I let Brian continue. Not only was Melvin the villain in the show, he was a fairly famous lawyer in real life. he was know for being the The King of Torts, Jack Ruby, and more.

I really enjoyed the time with Brian. He was very outgoing and full of energy. I was so thrilled I actually bought two autographs.

Revenge of the Nerds part II – Chiller Theater 2019

If meeting three nerds wasn’t enough, there’s more!

Both Julie Montgomery and Robert Carradine were in the same room with the other nerds.

Robert was sitting by himself and reading something on his phone. I did not recognize him with long grey hair that covered his face. It wasn’t until another fan walked up and he stood that I made the connection.  He was nice and outgoing. When I mentioned going to the UofA when they filmed, he asked if Dirt Bags was still there.  When I nodded yes, he had a big laugh and called over to Cutis Armstrong and shouted out a drink order.  Robert said that was what they ordered all night long.  He had lots of good times there.

Julie Montgomery sat next to Robert. She looked lovely. She was selling pie plates with her face on them (not her body). It was clever marketing and tempting. I selected a traditional photo instead.

While Curtis and Timothy Busfield were also at this show I didn’t stop at their tables. I have picked up their autographs previously. This was a great show to start a Revenge project poster.

Revenge of the Nerds Chiller Theater 2019

I know I have mentioned it before but because I’m old, I get to repeat myself. Besides, I know none of you pay attention so it doesn’t matter.

The Revenge of the Nerds was filmed at my College. In fact, I was there when they filmed the movie. Not only do I recognize the locations, I saw some of the sets when they were shooting. In fact, I can claim to even know a couple of the extras in the movie. It has a special spot in my heart.

Chiller had a nice reunion of actors from the movie.

Andrew Cassese looked nothing like the child prodigy in the movie. He is now a gown man. When I walked up to the table, he was sitting by himself. I sheepishly asked if he was the actor.  He smiled and said he was really the actor.  We chatted a little and he signed his photo for me.

Larry B Scott was very nice. The thing that surprised me, he was one of the Cobra Kai from Karate Kid. He gained a little weight since filming Revenge.

Donald Gibb still looked big and intimidating.  He was quieter than the rest.

I basically told them all the same thing. I was one campus when the movie was filmed. As always, I wore my UofA shirt, so I pointed to the logo.

It was great to meet these guys and add them to the collection.

Timothy Busfield USA Film Festival 2019

The name that excited me most at this year’s film Festival was Timothy Busfield.  The Wife and I know him from Revenge of the Nerds.  That movie was filmed on the U of Arizona campus while we attended.  We saw parts of the sets as we walked around campus and we know an extra or two.

The Wife also remembers him from 30 Something. A show I refused to watched.

As I was tracking down photos, I realized he was in Little Big League. That is one of our favorite movies. When I shared that factoid with The Wife she figuratively grabbed me by the collar and told me get a photo from that movie. While I would have preferred a photo with only him in it, I do like the one I got signed.

When he saw it, he took the photo and walked to his wife. He raised it above the people that buzzed around her and said: Honey, Look. It’s Ken Griffey Jr!  Can you believe I worked with him!

That made me laugh. I’m excited to see Timothy Busfield. He was excited to see a photo of himself with Ken Griffey Jr.

Curtis Armstrong Fan Expo Dallas 2016

Curtis Armstrong plays an ‘interesting’ character on Supernatural.

Geeks loved him in King of the Nerds.

He will always be ‘Booger’ to me from Revenge of the Nerds.  If you spend ANY time around me, you’ll hear me proudly say, that movie was filmed at the UofA when I was on campus.

When I mentioned that to him (yes, I was wearing my UofA golf shirt and showed him the embroidered ‘A’), he asked if I was an extra. I said no but I knew some of the ‘Moos’. He smiled.  He asked if it was like watching old home movies. This time I smiled and said yes.
