Soleil Moon Frye GalaxyCon OKC 2025

I never watched Punk Brewster. I’m assuming I was too old.

As I was walking past her booth, Soleil Moon Frye was walking up. She had a mom/daughter combo of fans at her table that were jumping up and down in excitement that they saw her.

When I walked back 5 minutes later, the 3 of them were still chatting and taking dozens of selfies. It was an interaction. It was not about the autograph.

Soleil started signing their photo. She used 10 different colors to write an inscription. While that might seem too busy, it did look pretty. She knew what she was doing and the mom/daughter combo loved it.

The handler turned to me and asked if I wanted ‘the works’.  I laughed and said no. It wouldn’t work for the photo I had.

After 5 more minutes and a bunch of hugs, it was my turn. I towered over Soleil. We chatted a bit and then she signed. I shared what I saw when the mom/daughter spotted her in the crowd. They seemed very genuinely excited to be meeting Punky.

Brian Austin Green GalaxyCon 2025

There is a reason that most of the fans for Brian AustinGreen were women. And a reason that most of the photo’s had blondes in them: Beverly Hills 90210. Never watched it.  I was there for a photo of Derek Reese. Soldier from the future to save humanity from a robot. Yes, I am a fan of Terminator: Sarah Conner Chronicles.

I think he had 2 photos from the show amid the sea of Beverly Hills photos. I probably was the only guy that got his signature too. That’s okay.

Lou Ferrigno GalaxyCon OKC 2025

Many years ago, I got Lou Ferrigno to sign a book. I finally got around to having him sign a photo.

It was a quick process. Not much interaction. He is hard of hearing and communication is tough with the backdrop of noise from a convention. I wasn’t planning on having a conversation. I was just happy to add a photo to my collection.

Elizabeth Berkley GalaxyCon 2025

The other huge reason I got up so early and drove to OKC, was Elizabeth Berkley. Never watched Saved by the Bell but I did see Showgirls. Not the best movie in the world but it did make an impression.

I was happy she was willing to sign a photo from that movie. It seemed everyone in line was getting photos/posters from that movie signed. And yes, everyone in line was guys. The Saved by the Bell fans went to Mario Lopez’s table and they were mostly girls.

She was friendly and chatted with the fans and posed for selfies. She charmed her fans with her big smile.

Robin Thomas GalaxyCon OKC 2025

Who hasn’t watched Summer School a million times? Such a fun silly movie. Of course, I had to get Robin Thomas to sign a photo from the film.

It was a quick easy encounter. He was all smiles. I told him how The Wife and I saw the movie as a date movie. We still stop down when we see it playing. It’s a classic.

Scott Patterson GalaxyCon OKC 2025

If at first you don’t succeed, try try again…

I printed a photo for Scott Patterson. It was from Saw but not the photo I post here.

Scott was personable and chatted with everyone. He seemed to be enjoying the fan interaction. The crowd was mostly Saw fans but a lot of Gilmore Girls fans too. I mentioned The Wife really enjoyed Gilmore Girls. I really enjoyed Little Big League. I usually watch it at the beginning of baseball season. He said it was a fun movie.

Then he signed. A nice large signature. As he ‘crossed his T’, he left a huge blot of paint on the photo. Ugh. It was not salvageable. I got another photo from the table. He signed with less gusto the second time. A much better result.

Mario Lopez GalaxyCon OKC 2025

I walked up to Mario Lopez and handed over the photo. He smiled and asked if I knew where that was from. We both said The Rookie at the same time. Jinx.

He signed. I said, The Wife watches The Rookie because of Nathan. But this episode had you, too. That meant it was a super special episode. He laughed.

Always nice when you can make them laugh.

Greg Nicotero GalaxyCon OKC 2025

I attended BOTH Texas Frightmare Weekend and GalaxyCon the same weekend. I got a few autographs at each convention. The Wife wasn’t exactly happy about me driving so far with little rest but she was happy I was out of the house most of the weekend.

My 3-hour drive was easy. I arrived and parked with enough time to get my badge just as the doors were opening. I walked the floor to see where everyone was located and who was seated that early.

Greg Nicotero was already there. He was the number one reason for the long drive. I enjoyed The Walking Dead and thought some of the episodes he directed were powerful.  I walked up and he was friendly. He mentioned that he liked the photo I brought. He asked where I found it. He had a similar photo (behind the camera) but without the makeup.

He signed. I started to ‘fanboy’ out. I did check if anyone was in line behind me. I mentioned that I used to attend SDCC (yes, I’m always referencing SDCC. Does that make me a snob?).  I told him one year I saw him coming down the long escalator on Preview Night as I was going up. I waved. He waved back.  No else was aware. Silly anecdote but I shared it.

Then we shook and I moved on to see who else was around.

Deborah Ann Woll GalaxyCon OKC 2024

The Wife and I watched True Blood for years. We really enjoyed the TV series, we read a few of the books in the series, and we saw several of the panels at SDCC. Because of that we enjoy seeing alumni from the series pop up on other series or movies.  When we started watching the Marvel Netflix series, we loved seeing Deborah Ann Woll show up across several of the series.

Deborah was just as pretty in person. The ‘like-ableness’ of her character on screen seemed to be what we saw at the convention. She smiled and answered questions and made you feel comfortable in front of her.

The photo is from Dare Devil.  It was hard to choose a favorite, but I thought this was the best for a signature.

Kirsten Nelson GalaxyCon OKC 2024

This was by far my favorite encounter at OKC’s GalaxyCon. Kirsten Nelson was not only fan friendly; she was embracing the Psych-o’s. She was taking her time and asking questions with every fan and listening to their answers.

A fan, a few people in front of me, had a cast poster from SDCC. Since she wasn’t at the convention, he was adding her name. He explained a little about how he got it.  She wasn’t aware of the raffle process and the slim number that were successful. Another fan brought the Psych book that some of the cast signed at another SDCC.  It was great to see these items. I never got close to winning those raffles.

The guy in front of me explained that he binged Psych while recovering from a recent illness. His mother was there.  Kirsten asked about his favorite episode. He panicked a little but she prompted him with some great suggestions (the T-Rex, or Yin Yang episodes, or the Spanish Soap Opera).  I forgot what he said as it made me think about my favorite.  It’s hard to choose.

As I handed over my photo, she asked my name. I told her. She introduced herself. We shook hands. Then I mentioned how much I enjoyed standing in line. It was great to see what other people were getting signed but also listening in to the conversations.

I decided I would tell her my favorite. It was the one with George Takei (who was also at the convention about 50 feet away from her). She laughed and said she really liked that one too.  It was because she gave birth...and the episode was really about her. We both laughed. It was my favorite nor only because I was big Trekkie but it was the first episode I watched. I wasn’t a viewer but my parents convinced me to watch this episode. They wanted to know if that was what ComicCons were really like.

We chatted some more (a really relaxed encounter) but as much as I would have liked hanging out more, I had more autographs to get and she had mor people in line.

Then she thanked me by name…and I paused. She remembered my name. I mentioned that and that I was really impressed. I so want that skill. She thanked me again and I left with a huge smile.

Timothy Omundson GalaxyCon OKC 2024

Another guest at Galaxycon that did both Psych and Supernatural was Timothy Omundson. Who doesn’t love Lassie and Cain?

This was a quick encounter. He was seated in his wheelchair with one hand in his lap but signed smoothly. He looked up and I said thank you.  He nodded back and then his handler started talking to me. I stepped out of the way and to continue with the handler.  It was UofA stuff.  Yes, I was wearing a UofA shirt. And Yes, it is the only shirts I own.

While there was more I would have liked to have said to Timothy, I was very happen I got to see him in person and get the autograph.

Kurt Fuller GalaxyCon OKC 2024

Another Psych alumni was Kurt Fuller. He is also a Supernatural alumni. Fans were getting his signature for both shows equally. I’ll admit, it was a tough choice. The image with the bear pushed me over the top to Psych.

Again, a very friendly and outgoing encounter. He was chatting with everybody and seemed to be enjoying himself. As I handed over the photo, he asked if I minded a phrase added. I said no. As I was watching, he said, don’t worry, he might be left-handed but he won’t smear the signature. And he didn’t.

As he handed it back, I said, I really enjoyed both Psych and Supernatural. I also told him the first thing I ever saw him in was Miracle Mile. He smiled not sure where I was going with that. I said it was such an odd character but it made me remember him ever since. He mentioned it was very low budget and sometimes they were filming commando style: no permissions or permits. Just filmed until they Police came. He mentioned it’s something of a cult classic and end up in some small theaters for a limited run.

Go check it out.

Maggie Lawson GalaxyCon OKC 2024

I’m up in my little room typing away for the blog. I check that door is closed and then I let out a puppy dog sigh of contentment when I see that I got Maggie Lawson’s autograph.  She was so cute and adorable and I have to admit I have a slight crush on her…a quick double check that the door is closed.  Another sigh….

I printed this photo but she also had it at her table. She looked lovely in person and was wearing some very cute glasses…which I commented on. She asked if I really liked them.  I said yes.  She mentioned she JUST started wearing them and wasn’t sure about the look.  I’m sure my opinion doesn’t go very far but I can say I gave her some fashion advice. Sigh.

Sage Brocklebank GalaxyCon OKC 2024

I hadn’t attended GalaxyCon before but what made it worth the 3-hour drive north to OKC was several members from the TV show Psych were in attendance.  The Wife and I have watched that series a few times and find the goofiness very adorable.

Sage Brocklebank was very nice and chatted with everyone. It didn’t need to be about Psych or his career. The young one in front of me made her own mask and he was asking about that and what else she had done.

He also had a nice selection of table photos. I looked for something to print but couldn’t find anything, so I was very happy about that.

Lastly, if you know me and earworms, I had the Psych theme song rolling through my head the whole day.

Jeff Ward GalaxyCon OKC 2024

As I walked around the convention, I saw a few cosplayers dressed as Buggy from One Piece; which is Jeff Ward’s most recent role. I haven’t seen that show but I’m assuming is a popular TV series. when I see Jeff, I think of Deke from Marvel Agents of Shield.

We chatted about not being sure about the intentions of his character and whether we liked him. But slowly we warmed up to him.

Chris Parnell GalaxyCon OKC 2024

Chris Parnell has been to a lot of conventions. I have passed on him as I didn’t watch anything he did voice work on. However, recently I saw him in Fallout and I enjoyed that series and figured, now is the time. I ended up choosing a photo from Archer as I couldn’t find a good photo from Fallout.

Chris spent a minute or two with each fan. He didn’t rush people. He really seemed to be listening and engaged with the people that waited to see him. He gave me the same amount of time. He suggested the quote for the series and he said it as he wrote it. We both laughed.

Jake Abel GalaxyCon OKC 2024

Being a Supernatural fan I was happy to see Jake Abel listed for this convention. I already had a photo printed. It might have been from the year, I missed going to DragonCon. I not only got to see Jake; I got to use a photo I printed few years ago.

As with everyone associated with Supernatural, Jake was friendly and we got chat a bit.

Michael Eklund GalaxyCon OKC 2024

I really enjoyed Wynonna Earp, so I HAD to get Michael Eklund’s signature. He was very friendly and we chatted for a few minutes. He mentioned a possibility of an Earp movie coming ‘soon’. Even though I couldn’t find it on IMDB, I except something is in the works. I look forward to seeing the what happens next.

Andrew Keegan – GalaxyCon OKC 2024

Another stop down movie for The Wife and me is, 10 Things I Hate about You. And because of that I went to  Andrew Keegan’s table.

As I walked up, he and the handler were chatting about the cosplay on the floor in front of them.  He mentioned he hadn’t seen live cosplay.  Which lead me to ask if he did any other conventions. He said he only did the 90’s show.  I smiled and said, that would have been a very different crowd.  All middle-aged women. He laughed and said I wasn’t wrong.  I did tell him I thought about going. They had a great guest list.

Much like Mara Wilson, I couldn’t find a good photo I liked before the convention to print. So, I choose something he had on the table. I actually liked the photo but the autograph would have been better on one of the head shots.

Mara Wilson GalaxyCon OKC 2024

Does the name Mara Wilson not ring a bell?

What if I say Matilda and Mrs Doubtfire?

Well, Mara is all grown up. Still looks the same. She was friendly and we chatted abut how Mrs Doubtfire is a ‘stop down’ movie for The Wife and me.

And yes, Mrs Doubtfire is the stop down movie and I got a Matilda photo signed.  I couldn't find anything good from that movie with just Mara. This was the best option.
